JACKSONVILLE, Ala. --
The Morehead State baseball team is set to take on Jacksonville State this weekend at Rudy Abbott Field in its final series of the 2013 campaign.

The Eagles (15-38) enter the series with a 9-18 record in Ohio Valley Conference play, good for eighth in the league standings. The Gamecocks (30-23) sit in third place in the OVC with a 20-7 record.

First pitch on both Thursday and Friday is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, with the series finale scheduled for a 2 p.m. start. Live stats and audio for all three contests is expected to be available on MSUEagles.com.

A few notes heading into the series:

•  Morehead State is coming off of a 6-4 loss to Tennessee in its final mid-week match-up of the season.

•  The Gamecocks have won OVC series against UT Martin, SIU Edwardsville, Eastern Illinois, Murray State, Tennessee Tech, Southeast Missouri and Eastern Kentucky.

•  Sophomore first baseman Kane Sweeney had his on-base streak end at 41 games last Saturday. The only other game this season he has failed to reach base was Feb. 26 at Louisville.

• Sophomore right fielder Brandon Rawe has picked up multiple hits in 10 of MSU’s last 16 contests, raising his batting average by 61 points over that span to .287.

•  Sweeney is second in the OVC in batting average after 53 games, at .376. He also ranks second in the conference in hits (73) and on-base percentage (.466).

• Senior shortstop Chase Greenwell (.327) is the only other starting position player hitting above .300. He has the most multiple-hit games in the OVC with 25 and has driven in multiple runs in nine different contests.

• Senior right-handed closer Matt Duncan is only one save from tying the Morehead State career record (17). He racked up 13 saves in the 2012 season to set the single-season mark at MSU.
