MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State steps out of Pioneer Football League action on Saturday to host Ohio Valley Conference rival Eastern Kentucky. Kick-off from Jayne Stadium is set for 7 p.m. ET.
The Colonels are 1-2 overall, while the Eagles are 0-3 on the season. Eastern Kentucky defeated Robert Morris (Pa.) in its opener, but lost to No. 8 (FBS) Louisville and No. 21 (FCS) Coastal Carolina. Morehead State has suffered setbacks to Pikeville (Ky.), No. 25 (FCS) Youngstown State and Jacksonville.
Saturday will mark the 71st meeting between the two programs in football. Eastern Kentucky owns a 50-16-4 overall advantage and 22-7-3 upper hand in Morehead. The Colonels have won 25 of their last 26 games against the Eagles. MSU will be looking for its first victory over EKU since Nov. 17, 1990.

From an eligibility standpoint, just six of Morehead State's 92 players are seniors. The Eagles currently have 18 starters who are freshmen or sophomores (7 offense, 6 defense & 5 special teams).

Morehead State welcomed 8,311 fans to Jayne Stadium for its home opener vs. Pikeville (Ky.). The Eagles have led the Pioneer Football League in home attendance each of the last five seasons.

Brandon Reeves, who redshirted in 2012, rushed for a career-high 86 yards on 17 attempts at Jacksonville. Morehead State finished with a season-best 223 ground yards in the setback.

Four Morehead State players -- freshman quarterback Austin Gahafer (27), junior running back Rees Macshara (26), Brandon Reeves (23) and sophomore running back Rob Harden (21) -- posted carries of 20+ yards at Jacksonville.
NEW SIGNAL CALLERS
Neither one of Morehead State's top two quarterbacks, Austin Gahafer or freshman Logan Johnson, had played in a college football game a month ago. The duo has combined on 123 of MSU's 124 pass attempts this season.
NOT THE FAMOUS MUSICIAN
Junior defensive back Michael Jackson recorded Morehead State's first two takeaways this season with a pair of interceptions at Jacksonville. He became the first Eagle to intercept two passes in a game since Nov. 21, 2009.
THE TOP TACKLERS
Junior linebacker Nick McCune and freshman linebacker Matthew Brewer shared team-high honors with seven tackles apiece at Jacksonville. McCune now has 79 stops in 25 career games, while Brewer has 15 in three contests.
PLAYING LIKE A SENIOR
Senior defensive lineman Aaron Meadows is tied for first in the Pioneer Football League with three sacks this season. He collected half of Morehead State's four sacks at Jacksonville and two of its five tackles for loss.
NO MORE SCHOOL RECORDS
Morehead State's last two opponents have tallied school records for total yards. Youngstown State recorded 718 yards on Sept. 14 en route to a 67-13 win, while Jacksonville collected 719 yards on Sept. 21 on its way to a 69-19 victory.
