Eagle Women Open Nashville Trip at Tennessee State

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Coming off a three-point win over Southeast Missouri, the Morehead State women's basketball team takes to the road again this week. The Eagles will travel to Nashville for a pair of Ohio Valley Conference contests, begining Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. ET at Tennessee State.

MSU (9-10/3-3) and TSU (6-13/3-3) are currently tied for fourth place in the OVC's East Division. The Tigers have claimed three straight victories against the Eagles.

Following Saturday's game, MSU will play at Belmont Monday night at 7 p.m.

Notes heading into the contest:

Last Time Out
Shanice Parker hit a three-pointer from the top of the key with 12.9 seconds left, and MSU hung on to defeat Southeast Missouri 62-59 Monday night. Almesha Jones had 20 points, eight assists and six rebounds.

Dishing Dimes
Morehead State ranks second in the OVC in assists per game, averaging 14 per contest.

Making the Passes Count
The Eagles lead the OVC in assist-field goal ratio. Sixty-six percent of the time MSU makes a basket there is an assist. The next highest in the league in Eastern Illinois at 61 percent.

Live by the Three
Morehead State averages 7.4 three-pointers made and 24.8 three-pointers attempted per game. MSU has put together six consecutive seasons with at least 200 three-pointers made. The 44 three-pointers attempted versus Berea (Ky.) on Dec. 18 set the school single-game record.

Hitting the Free Ones
In its last nine games, Morehead State is shooting 76 percent (113-of-149) at the free throw line. In comparison, in its first 10 games, MSU connected on just 65 percent at the charity stripe.

Freebie Discrepancy
Morehead State averages 19.2 free-throw attempts per game. On the flip side, opponents are getting to the line 28.5 times per contest. MSU ranks 339th out of 343 Division I teams in most fouls per game.

Triple-Double! Almost
Almesha Jones nearly had a triple-double on Jan. 18 against UT Martin. Jones scored a team-best 15 points, had nine rebounds and dished out nine assists. There have been 17 triple-doubles in NCAA Division I women's basketball this season.

Miss Robinson
Terrice Robinson ranks eighth in the Ohio Valley Conference with 17.3 points per game. She has 18 career 20+ point games. She also has 44 career double-figure scoring games to her credit.

Lucky Number Seven
Terrice Robinson is on pace to reach 1,000 career points this season. She currently has 993. Robinson would be the 21st player in program history to join the 1,000-point club.

Takeaways Are Her Specialty
Almesha Jones currently leads the OVC in steals per game with 2.3. She has 44 takeaways this year and 147 for her career, which ranks 10th in program history.

Helping Hands
Almesha Jones, who leads the the OVC in assists per game, has recorded 25 career games with at least five assists. Ten of those games have come this season.

Breakout Season
Shanice Parker entered the season with just 24 points in only 39 career games. But, Parker is having a breakout final campaign. She is averaging 8.2 points and has five double-figure contests.
