Women's Hoops Looks for Seventh Straight Win in JSU Series

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State women's basketball team will look for its seventh straight win in the Jacksonville State series when the Gamecocks visit Johnson Arena Saturday. The game will follow the JSU-MSU men's contest, which tips off at 2 p.m. ET.

The Eagles (9-12/3-5 OVC) have dropped five of their last six games after winning four straight. JSU (9-14/5-5 OVC) won just one game last season before making a head coaching switch prior to this season.

Last Time Out
Terrice Robinson scored 27 points and Almesha Jones added 16 as the Eagles nearly erased a 16-point deficit at Belmont Monday night. The Bruins used a late run, however, and held on to defeat MSU 71-65.

Wow, What a Difference
In Morehead State's nine wins, the Eagles have outscored their foes by an 11-point average. However, in the 12 losses, the Eagles' scoring margin is negative-17.7. MSU has shot 42 percent in its wins and allowed opponents to hit just 36 percent, but in the setbacks, opponents are shooting 47 percent while the Eagles have managed just a 34 percent efficiency.

Pass It, Score It
The Eagles lead the OVC in assist-field goal ratio. Sixty-five percent of the time MSU makes a basket there is an assist. The next highest in the league in Eastern Illinois at 60 percent.

Welcome to the Club
Terrice Robinson became the 21st member of the 1,000-point club at Morehead State Saturday at Tennessee State. With 1,046 career points, she is now ranked 19th in career scoring in program history.

Live by the Three
Morehead State averages 7.4 three-pointers made and 24.6 three-pointers attempted per game. MSU has put together six consecutive seasons with at least 200 three-pointers made. MSU tied the OVC record with 19 triples versus Berea (Ky.), which also ranked as the fourth highest single-game total in NCAA Division I history.

High Percentage at the Line

n its last five games, MSU shot better than 70 percent at the free throw line. Last season, MSU finished the year at 73.6 percent from the line, wich ranked as the second-best season efficiency in program history.

Playing Like a Captain
Almesha Jones has had a solid five-game stretch. She has scored 20 or more points three times in that span and averaged 6.4 assists.

Miss Robinson
Terrice Robinson ranks fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference with 18.1 points per game. She has 20 career 20+ point games. She also has 46 career double-figure scoring games to her credit.

Takeaways Are Her Specialty
Almesha Jones currently ranks second in the OVC lead in steals per game at 2.3. With 151 career swipes to her credit, Jones ranks ninth in program history. She needs just three more to slide into eighth place past Devonda Williams.

Helping Hands
Almesha Jones, who leads the OVC in assists per game with 5.3, has recorded 27 career games with at least five assists. Twelve of those games have come this season.

Get That Outta Here
Freshman Shay Steele ranks fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference with 17 blocked shots, averaging nearly one rejection per game. MSU has already eclipsed its entire team block total from last year (58) with 64 this season.
