MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State men's golf program will encounter five fall tournaments between Sept. 8 and Oct. 21. Four of the five events will take place in the state of Kentucky.
"This is another challenging schedule for the program's student-athletes and its next coach," Head Coach Dr. Rex Chaney said before announcing his retirement in late May. "I'm excited for the program moving forward because it should be returning several talented golfers in 2014-15."
The Eagles open their 2014-15 campaign Sept. 8-9 at the Joe Feaganes Invitational. Marshall will host the 54-hole event, which is set for the Guyan Golf and Country Club in Huntington, W.Va.
MSU is also scheduled to play in the Murray State Invitational (Sept. 22-23), Cincinnati Bearcat Invitational (Oct. 6-7), WKU Kenny Perry Invitational (Oct. 13-14) and Austin Peay Intercollegiate (Oct. 20-21) during the seven-week stretch. Three of the five events were on last year's slate.
"The Murray State, Cincinnati and Austin Peay events were on our 2013 schedule," Chaney added. "Marshall's tournament is new and Western Kentucky was on the slate two years ago. These events will provide great competition for the student-athletes, but they should be fun at the same time."
Michael Pinsonneault was Morehead State's only senior in 2013-14, while Jared Stacy is expected to be its lone senior in 2014-15. Logan Hogge and Will Branham, who enter their junior campaigns, will lead a group of 12 student-athletes who are eligible to return for the upcoming school year.
