MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Winners of four of their last five and five straight at home since last season, the Morehead State football team hosts Pioneer League foe Drake on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET at Jayne Stadium.
Saturday's game features a Halloween costume promotion. All children in costume will be admitted free and adults in costume will receive a ticket for only $5. The game can be heard live on the Eagle Sports Radio Network and Eagle Empire App and seen live on the OVC Digital Network.
Morehead State (4-3/3-1 PFL) sits in a tie for second place in the league with San Diego, while Drake is right behind at 3-2 in the conference and 4-4 overall.
"We are in a great position, and its one we haven't been in in a long time," Head Coach
Rob Tenyer said. "Our success speaks volumes to our players' confidence. They truly believe they can play with anyone right now."
The Bulldogs, picked second in the preseason PFL poll, haven't played a game in Morehead since 2011 and have not played the Eagles at all since 2013.
"Drake is a solid team, they were picked second in our league, but this game is all about matchups," Tenyer said. "They have more than 30 seniors on their roster, so they are an experienced team."
MSU is coming off a 31-27 come-from-behind victory at Campbell last weekend. The Eagle defense has only allowed seven points per outing in its first three home contests. Senior corner back
Justin Grier leads the Football Championship Subdivision with six interceptions, while offensively junior quarterback
Austin Gahafer ranks second in the PFL in yards per game (298.6) and touchdowns (17).
Drake is paced offensively by quarterback Andy Rice's 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns. Defensively John Hugenin ranks among PFL leaders with 77 total tackles and 10.5 stops for losses.
"We are excited for our next two games at home," Tenyer said. "These games will be tough, but we have had great support this season, and I look forward to another great crowd Saturday."Â
