MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Jacksonville State women's basketball team made 4-of-5 from the field and 5-of-6 from the foul line in overtime to register an 83-78 Ohio Valley Conference win over Morehead State on Saturday afternoon at Johnson Arena.

The Gamecocks, who have won seven of their last nine contests, improve to 19-9 overall, 10-6 in conference action and 7-6 on the road.  The Eagles, who have dropped five of their last six, slip to 12-17 overall, 8-8 in league play and 7-7 at home.

Morehead State had defeated Jacksonville State seven consecutive times coming into the season, but the Gamecocks sweep the 2014-15 series.

Saturday was Senior Day as Mackenzie Arledge, Almesha Jones, Casey Ryans and Maiki Viela were honored prior to the contest.  Arledge, Jones and Ryans are fourth-year players at Morehead State, while Viela transferred from Gonzaga before the season.

The Gamecocks tallied a 7-0 run early in the extra session and held a two-possession lead the rest of the way.  JSU finished at 43 percent (31-of-72) from the floor, 44 percent (8-of-18) from three-point range and 68 percent (13-of-19) from the charity stripe.

Morehead State connected on 44 percent (31-of-71) from the field, 32 percent (6-of-19) from long distance and 77 percent (10-of-13) from the free-throw line.  The Eagles posted advantages of 46-41 in rebounds, 18-16 in assists and 9-2 in blocked shots.

JSU junior guard Destany McLin recorded a game-high 23 points on 10-of-18 from the field.  She also managed nine rebounds and three steals.  Senior center Miranda Cantrell yanked down 12 rebounds, while sophomore guard Kelly Naughton distributed seven assists.

Jones turned in her sixth double-double this season, with 17 points and 12 assists, while freshman forward Eriel McKee added her eighth, with 12 points and 12 rebounds.  Jones also recorded five steals, which puts her just two from setting MSU's career record.

Sophomore forward Shay Steele contributed 17 points for the Eagles on 8-of-17 from the floor.

The contest featured 24 lead changes and nine ties.

Morehead State begins its run in the conference tournament on Thursday at 3 p.m. ET.  The sixth-seeded Eagles will face third-seeded Tennessee State at Municipal Auditorium in Nashville.  If MSU wins, it would square off with No. 2 SIU Edwardsville or No. 7 Austin Peay on Friday.
