NOTES ON THE EAGLES:

LAST WEEK
Morehead State is 13-18 overall and 4-7 in the Ohio Valley Conference after going 2-4.  The Eagles split a non-conference doubleheader with Cleveland State on Tuesday.  MSU also split a conference twinbill at Austin Peay on Saturday before losing both games at Murray State on Sunday.

SCHEDULE CHANGES
Morehead State's home doubleheader with Dayton has been canceled, while its home twinbill with Northern Kentucky has been re-scheduled for April 21.  More than half of MSU's originally-scheduled games have been changed (opponent, date, location, etc.) due to weather and field conditions.

THE WEEK AHEAD
Morehead State is now expected to open a five-game homestand against Ohio Valley Conference opponent Belmont on Saturday (1 p.m. doubleheader) and Sunday (1 p.m. single).  The Eagles are slated to wrap up the stretch versus Wright State on Wednesday, April 15 (2 p.m. doubleheader).

A CAREER-BEST STREAK
Sophomore Kayla McGuffey hit safely in a career-best 11 straight games (20-for-39, 5 R, 4 RBI) from March 22 through April 5.  The outfielder leads Morehead State in batting average (.375), on-base percentage (.398), hits (39), runs (16) and stolen bases (11).

THE FRESHMAN IN THE CIRCLE
Freshman Mackenzie Grossmann owns an 8-6 record and 3.11 ERA in 23 appearances.  The right-hander has limited opponents to a .221 batting average while striking out 63 in 99.0 innings.  She earned victories over Cleveland State and Austin Peay last week.

FINDING THE RIGHT COMBINATION
Seven Morehead State players have started all 31 contests -- senior infielder Katie Raile, junior infielder Dana Hutchins, junior outfielder Lizzy Margagliotti, junior outfielder Tressa Watson, Kayla McGuffey, sophomore infielder Karly Thompson and freshman designated player Lindsay Ward.

A TIGHT CONFERENCE RACE
Six teams are currently separated by 3 1/2 games in the Ohio Valley Conference standings.  Morehead State will look to make a move this weekend when it hosts league foe Belmont.  The regular season wraps up May 3, with the OVC Tournament to be held the following week.

DOING GOOD THINGS AT HOME
Morehead State has posted a better-than-.500 record at home in 2013 and 2014.  The Eagles are 4-4 at University Field this year with 10 games remaining on the current home schedule.
