MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State football program has added 13 players on defense/special teams for the 2015 season. The newcomers include five linemen, three linebackers, four defensive backs and one kicker.
Morehead State is expected to add a total of 29 athletes to its program. The list of offensive players will be released soon.
"Our staff did a great job of targeting position needs on the defensive side of the ball," Head Coach Rob Tenyer said. "I believe we have some guys that will make an early impact. This group has length, speed, and is very versatile."
The Eagles have five home games among the 11-game schedule for 2015. MSU hosts Kentucky Christian (Sept. 19) for the home opener and Family Weekend and entertains Butler (Oct. 10) for Homecoming.

Jermyrion Beasley (DB, 5-10, 175, Fr., Atlanta, Ga., Lovejoy HS)Recorded 90 total tackles as a senior for Head Coach Edgar Carson … Notched 35 pass break-ups in his final two seasons … Had two interceptions, two fumbles forced and a blocked field goal as a senior … Collected 70 total tackles, including two in the backfield, as a junior.
David Carr (DE, 6-2, 230, Fr., Walton, Ky., Walton-Verona HS)Played for Head Coach Jeff Barth … Participated in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl following his senior season … Named his squads Offensive Line Most Valuable Player as a junior … Helped his team win district titles as a sophomore in 2012 and a senior in 2014 … Was a two-way player all four seasons.
Tristan Cox (DB, 6-1, 185, Fr., Ironton, Ohio, Ironton HS)Played defensive back and quarterback for Head Coach Mark Vass … Threw for more than 1,000 yards and rushed for nearly 1,000 his final two seasons … Set the Ohio High School Athletic Association record for longest touchdown run when he dashed 99 yards versus Portsmouth High School his freshman season … Named to the Division V First-Team All-Southeast squad as a defensive back following junior and senior campaigns … Named Honorable Mention All-State as a junior and senior … Helped IHS to an 8-3 record in 2014 … Also named all-state in basketball as a senior
David DeVaughn (DE, 6-3, 220, Fr., Cincinnati, Ohio, Mt. Healthy HS)Played for Head Coach Arvie Crouch … Recorded 25 total tackles, including five sacks, as a senior … Made 15 stops and forced a fumble as a junior … Named First-Team All-Southwest Ohio Conference as a senior … Helped his team win four straight conference titles and district titles his final two seasons.
Jeremiah Draper (LB, 6-2, 235, Fr., Radcliff, Ky., North Hardin HS)Recorded more than 300 career tackles playing for Head Coach Brent Thompson … Totaled 106 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, three sacks and four fumbles forced as a junior … Notched 104 tackles, including 23 TFLs, two interceptions, three sacks, three fumbles forced and recovered as a senior … Named Honorable Mention All-State as a senior … Earned First-Team All-Area honors his final two seasons … Named to the Best of the Bluegrass All-Star Team in 2014 … Earned Honorable Mention Academic All-State four consecutive years.

Milik Lewis (LB, 6-0, 200, Fr., Louisville, Ky., Iroquois HS)Helped Head Coach Preston King's team lead the district in defense in 2014 … Also helped IHS to a school-record 12-2 mark as a senior in 2014 … Led the state in tackles in 2014 and was named Third-Team All-State … Named 5A District Player of the Year … Earned First-Team All-District accolade as a junior and senior.
Patrick Rice (DT, 6-1, 265, Fr., Wittensville, Ky., Johnson Central HS)Started prep career at Sheldon Clark High School before transferring to Johnson Central for junior and senior years … Coached by Jim Matney at JCHS … Led SCHS in tackles as a freshman linebacker and as a sophomore defensive end … Ranked second on the team in tackles at JCHS as a senior … Helped Johnson Central to 11-1 records both seasons and top-five state rankings for Class 4A … Named Honorable Mention All-State as a junior and senior … Earned First-Team All-Area honors both seasons at JCHS … Also won the regional bass fishing championship in 2014.
Aaron Turk (DB, 5-11, 185, Fr., Roswell, Ga., Centennial HS)Tallied 125 total tackles his final two prep seasons for Head Coach Jeff Carlberg … Made 70 stops, including five sacks, and forced three fumbles as a senior in 2014 … Scored three touchdowns, including one on a kickoff return, as a senior … Notched 54 total tackles as a junior … Named Honorable Mention All-Region his final two seasons … Also named Honorable Mention All-American in baseball by Perfect Game … His father, James, played college baseball at Florida A&M.
