MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State women's basketball defeated Kentucky Christian 100-52 on Monday night at Johnson Arena, bringing the Eagles' record to 5-2 on the season.
"We just came into this game wanting to play hard and have a lot of energy," said MSU head coach
Greg Todd. "We wanted this game to mean something to our team."
The Eagles reached triple-digit scoring for the first time in 2016-17, despite connecting on just two of six field goal attempts from three-point range. Morehead State scored a staggering 82 points in the paint, shooting over 50 percent from the field (46-for-84, .548) for the first time this season.
"We didn't need to shoot a lot of three-point shots," Todd said. "We wanted to be focused and make every possession matter. We did a nice job passing the ball."
Five Morehead State players scored in double-digits, led by 18 points, four rebounds, and three steals from senior
Shay Steele. The Eagles' starting backcourt,
Brianna McQueen and
Miranda Crockett, poured in 16 points apiece. McQueen added six rebounds and five assists.

Breuna Jackson each scored 13, while Wells' output was complemented by five assists and four steals.
Morehead State forced 29 turnovers from Kentucky Christian, scoring 38 points in the process. The Eagles also outgunned the Knights 38-0 in the fast break.
"It was a good night for us, overall," said Todd. "We were pleased to get the 'W.'"
