MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Calling it what he hopes is a "November to remember," Morehead State football coach
Rob Tenyer will take his team on the road Saturday to face Butler in Indianapolis, Ind. Game time is 1 p.m. ET at the Butler Bowl.
The game can be heard live on the Eagle Sports Radio Network.
"That's the motto for us, and we've got three more opportunities. We have to go on the road for two of them, and that starts this week against a well-coached Butler team," said Tenyer. "We have to dictate much more in the offensive and defensive games, and even in the kicking game, this week against Butler."
The Eagles (2-6/1-4 Pioneer Football League), who are coming off their bye week, have scored 90 points in their last two games but have allowed 105.
"We kind of went back to basics during our off week," said Tenyer. "We worked on some fundamental stuff to get better on both sides of the ball. We got some weight sessions in, and only practiced fully twice. We made a few tweaks in all three phases, either from an x's and o's or a personnel standpoint."
Butler (4-5/2-4 PFL) is coming off a 23-12 victory over in-state rival Valparaiso. The Bulldogs, however, have managed just a 1-3 record at home. Quarterback Malcolm Weaver leads the charge with 156 yards through the air and 37 yards on the ground per game.
"He is more of an athletic, mobile-type quarterback, and we have struggled against those types of players," Tenyer added.Â
MSU senior slot receiver
Jake Raymond is on the verge of breaking the PFL career record for receptions. He has 251 career catches, needing just five more for the mark. Ironically the record is held by a former Butler receiver, Zach Watkins. Also, offensively, freshman running back
Trevor Jones is coming off the best single-game rushing effort in program history when he had 284 yards against Jacksonville two weekends ago.
Following Saturday's contest, the Eagles will return to Morehead to prepare for their final home contest of the year. MSU will host Campbell next Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.
