Game Notes

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Off to its best start since beginning the season 11-1 in 2001-02, Morehead State women's basketball (9-3) returns home for a 5:15 p.m. ET tip-off with Canisius (2-7, 1-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) on Monday evening at Johnson Arena.

The Eagles are coming off a perfect three-game road trip that ended with a 71-50 rout of Kennesaw State last Saturday. Coupled with wins at Florida A&M and North Florida, Morehead State completed its 3-0 road streak with a 15.0 average margin of victory.

In the blowout of the Owls, junior forward Eriel McKee led with way with 16 points and 11 rebounds in her third double-double performance of the season. Redshirt-sophomore Darianne Seward tallied 12 points, four boards, and three assists in her first starting effort as an Eagle.

Ranking in the top 10 of four NCAA Division I statistical categories on defense, Morehead State looks to win five games in a row for the first time since 2010-11. Junior reserve Brooke Todd ranks third in the nation with 40 blocks on the season.

Monday will mark the Eagles' first meeting with the Golden Griffins in program history. Canisius is led by Iceland native Sara Hinriksdóttir, who totes a team-best 14.0 points per game. The matchup will be broadcast live on the OVC Digital Network.
