COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Morehead State women's basketball lost its fifth straight game with a 77-69 defeat to Tennessee Tech on Wednesday night at the Eblen Center.

Morehead State's record drops to 9-18 overall and 3-10 in OVC battles. Tennessee Tech remains in the run for an OVC Tournament bid as its record improved to 10-17 and 6-8 in OVC play.

"We went back to our style of play from the beginning of the season tonight," said head coach
Greg Todd. "We pressured the ball and shot the ball more, which gave us a chance to make a comeback and put ourselves in a good position at the end."

Early in the second quarter, Morehead State scored five straight points courtesy of an and-one layup by senior guard
Natalie Greenwell and a 17-foot jumper from sophomore forward
Eriel McKee to even the score at 21-21. But, TTU answered with a 9-0 run of their own to go up 30-21 with just over five minutes to go in the half. Junior guard
Brianna McQueen drained a right wing three in an attempt to put an end to the run, but the Golden Eagles added on, finishing the half with a 22-7 stretch and a 43-28 lead.

Morehead State remained in striking distance, as they outscored the home team in both the third and fourth quarters, getting as close as four points at 73-69 in the closing moments.
But, TTU's Samari Howard proved to be too much for MSU, scoring a game-high 29 points, eclipsing 1,000 career points in the process.
McQueen led Morehead State with a career-high 23 points, marking her 12
th straight game in double digits. She added a team-high six assists and six rebounds. Greenwell accounted for 14 points and McKee finished with 13.
