MOREHEAD, Ky. – Dominique Battle and Patrick Hill, two leaders with extensive playing and coaching experience at many levels of collegiate football, have completed the Morehead State coaching staff for 2016.

Battle, who played at the University of Cincinnati, will help coach the cornerbacks, while Hill, who has coached in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, will mentor the defensive line. Both will assist newly appointed defensive coordinator Zack Moore.

"Dominique brings knowledge and playing experience," said Head Coach Rob Tenyer. "He played corner, nickel and safety at Cincinnati, and his experience and success will make an instant impact in our defensive backfield."

Battle suited up for the Bearcats from 2008-12, including his best season as a sophomore in 2009 when he made 52 tackles, including 28 solo stops, and had four tackles for a loss. He also picked off two passes. He helped the Bearcats to four Big East titles and four bowl game appearances (2008 Orange Bowl, 2009 Sugar Bowl, 2011 Liberty Bowl and 2012 Belk Bowl).

Battle was Cincinnati's Newcomer of the Year award winner for the team in 2008. In 20015, he was named to the CincyOnTheProwl.com All-Decade Team as a cornerback.

A native of Boca Raton, Fla., Battle attended high school at the American Heritage Academy, where he recorded 14 interceptions over a three-year span.

Battle's most recent position was a defensive quality control assistant at Eastern Kentucky.

Battle graduated from Cincinnati in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in communications.

Hill comes to MSU from Ferrum College in Virginia where he served as defensive line coach and strength and conditioning coordinator. He mentored First-Team All-Conference pick Montel Lee in 2015.

"Patrick brings 10 years of experience coaching defensive line," Tenyer said. "He is very technique driven, and that was exactly what I was looking for.  I wanted a great teacher, and someone who was going to make us better at defending the run."

Hill served as assistant defensive line coach at James Madison in the spring of 2015 following a one-year stint as an assistant coach at West Virginia State. He spent the 2013 season at Concordia-Ann Arbor (Mich.) and served the 2012 season as the defensive line coach at Adrian (Mich.).

He began his coaching career at his alma mater, Concordia-Chicago, from 2008-12. He has also served as assistant director and educational coach in the Detroit Lions Football Education Department.

He coached five first or second-team all-conference honorees at Concordia-Chicago and helped Adrian win the 2012 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title.

Hill received his bachelor's degree in sports management and sociology from Concordia-Chicago in 2010 and earned his master's degree in sports leadership from the same institution in 2011.
