Bell, Gil-Juarez's wins highlight track event at Butler

RESULTS

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Morehead State senior track runners Desmond Bell and Jorge Gil-Juarez highlighted the Eagles' action at the Stan Lyons Invitational by picking up wins Saturday at the meet hosted by Butler.

Bell, who redshirted last season after winning the 2013 OVC 800-meter championship, claimed victory in the 800-meter race today, finishing in 1:53.88. Gil-Juarez bested the field of 45 runners in the 3,000-meter run. He crossed the finish line in 8:26.05, just four seconds short of teammate Jesse Moreno's school record.

The Eagle women were highlighted by two top-10 finishes in the 3,000-meter run. Senior Jasmyn Andrews finished in 10:31.40 for eighth place. Junior Hannah Bailey was right behind at 10:33.98.

The men also saw two other top-10 efforts in the 3,000-meter event. Freshman Justin Moakler registered a seventh place showing at 8:32.16, while junior Dylan Rich was ninth at 8:33.95.

The next action for Morehead State is Saturday and Sunday at the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina.
