MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State baseball scored six runs in the opening two innings and never looked back in a 17-3 non-conference victory over Miami (Ohio) Tuesday at Allen Field.
The Eagles (15-9)Â won their third straight game after dropping six consecutive contests. The RedHawks fell to 9-13. The teams had not met since 2012.
Morehead State, which plated seven runs in the fourth innings, also added four more in the eighth. The Eagles took advantage of four Miami errors.
Four MSU batters collected three hits as the Eagles recorded 18 on the day, their 16th game in double digits. Junior rightfielder
Will Schneider, who was 3-for-5, extended his reached-base streak to 16 games with a first-inning solo homer.

Patrick McGuff being credited with the win to improve to 2-3. He tossed the first three frames and did not allow a run while striking out four.
RedHawk starter Andy Almquist, making his first career start, surrendered 10 hits and nine earned runs in three innings to fall to 1-1.
Miami first baseman Ross Haffey led his team with a 3-for-5 effort, while Chad Sedio nailed a two-run homer in the sixth.
The eagles return to action on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. ET solo battle against Marshall at Allen Field.
