Gabriel Ruiz named OVC Player of the Week for Men's Tennis

MOREHEAD, Ky.—Morehead State senior men's tennis player Gabriel Ruiz has been named the Player of the Week by the Ohio Valley Conference.
 
Hailing from Tarija, Bolivia, Ruiz becomes the first Morehead State men's tennis player to earn the OVC weekly honor this season.
 
Ruiz went 2-0 in both singles and doubles competition. He defeated Tennessee State's Shashank Nautiyal and Belmont's Robin Demasse. Pairing up with junior Ritchie Kruunenberg, the tandem took down TSU's Amir Daniel and Daniel Bernal, followed by Belmont's Demasse and Cedric Dujacquier.
 
The Eagles will travel to Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State this weekend with an undefeated OVC record. The match against TTU will be on Friday at 1 p.m. ET and JSU will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET.
