Track and Field teams continue to collect wins

RESULTS (MOUNTAINEER | REDHAWK)

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
The Morehead State track and field teams split up this past weekend, with a select few athletes participating in the Mountaineer Open at Appalachian State and the rest of the squad at the RedHawk Invitational at Miami (Ohio).

Senior Desmond Bell won another 800-meter race, beating out 26 others at Appy State to cross the finish line in 1:51.27. At the Redhawk event, freshman Jordan Carrington won his heat of the 1,500-meter race, covering the turns and straightaways in 4:05.66.

On the women's side, senior Jasmyn Andrews narrowly missed winning her 1,500-meter heat, coming in second at 4:51.24. The men also saw junior Dylan Rich compete in the 1,500-meter run at Appy State and finish second overall at 3:57.78.

Seniors Evan Childers and Jorge Gil-Juarez both ran in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Miami, taking third and fourth place, respectively. Childers ran it in 9:23.03, while Gil-Juarez was at 9:28.61.

Both teams will shoot for individual league titles when they run next at the Ohio Valley Conference Champeionships May 13-14 in Nashville, Tenn.
