DiSalvio named semifinalist for William V. Campbell Trophy

OFFICIAL NFF RELEASE

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Morehead State senior punter Pat DiSalvio has been named a semifinalist for the prestigious William V. Campbell Trophy. The honor, presented by Fidelity Investments and the National Football Foundation (NFF), is given to the nation's top football scholar-athlete.

DiSalvio is one of 156 football athletes nationwide named as semifinalists, and he is one of just 36 from the Football Championship Subdivision.

The NFF will announce 12-14 finalists on Nov. 1, and each of them will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class, presented by Fidelity Investments. The finalists will travel to New York City for the 59th NFF Annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 6, where their accomplishments will be highlighted in front of one of the most powerful audiences in all of sports. At the event, one member of the class will be declared the winner of the 27th William V. Campbell Trophy and have his postgraduate scholarship increased to $25,000.

Named in honor of the late Bill Campbell, former chairman of Intuit, former player and head coach at Columbia University and the 2004 recipient of the NFF's Gold Medal, the Campbell Trophy is a 25-pound bronze trophy and increases the amount of the recipient's grant by $7,000 for a total postgraduate scholarship of $25,000. This year's postgraduate scholarships will push the program's all-time distribution to more than $11.1 million.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, DiSalvio is Co-President of Morehead State's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He was named First-Team Academic All-Pioneer Football League in 2014 and 2015 and has been on the PFL Academic Honor Roll three times.

This past summer, DiSalvio traveled to Monterrey, Mexico wth Athletes in Action as part of Team USA's participation in the World Championships of American Football.

DiSalvio has served more than 100 hours of community service, including three Freshmen Move-In Days, two campus clean-ups, two "Paint the Town Blue and Gold" (distributing posters and schedules to the entire community), three Knights of Columbus events, two Read Across America Days, three MSU Football Women's Clinics, two Rowan County High School After-Prom Events, three tutoring events for children and the Rowan County Christian Social Services Basket Drive.

This year, he has averaged 39 yards on 32 punts with four inside the 20-yard line. He also splits time on kickoff duties, amassing a 56-yard average.
