JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Morehead State women's basketball (16-5, 6-2 Ohio Valley Conference) looks to complete the season's third streak of at least three wins in a visit to Jacksonville State (9-11, 2-6 OVC) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET.
The Eagles followed up Jan. 21's 80-54 victory over Eastern Kentucky with a 79-65 decisive triumph over Tennessee Tech on Jan. 25. In her team's last outing, redshirt-senior
Brianna McQueen poured in a season-high 28 points to go along with six assists, three rebounds, and two steals.
In 25 minutes off the bench against the Golden Eagles, McQueen made her seemingly inevitable entry into the school's 500-point club a reality. The 5-foot-3 guard accomplished the feat in only 36 games after transferring to Morehead State a year ago.
Jacksonville State currently sits nine spots below second place Morehead State at the penultimate spot in the OVC standings. The Gamecocks are led by senior guard Briana Benson, who posts a team-high 12.3 points per game, as well as 5.4 rebounds.
McQueen has been the Eagles' anchor throughout the entire season, averaging 12.7 points a contest.
Eriel McKee grabs a team-best 8.0 rebounds, and is the only Morehead State player with five double-doubles on the season. McKee ranks first in the conference with 5.7 defensive boards per game.
In 28 all-time meetings with the Gamecocks, MSU has managed an 18-10 record. The Eagles defeated Jacksonville State in both matchups of 2015-16. Saturday's game will be broadcast live on the
OVC Digital Network.
