MOREHEAD, Ky. - Freshman
Cooper Collins has been named OVC Golfer of the Week after finishing tied for fourth at the Gary Freeman BCU Spring Invitational last week.Â
It marked his first career top five finish and his second straight top ten finish. He finished eighth at the Frontier Secure Intercollegiate.
Collins led the tournament early as he was two-under midway through the second round. He finished the tournament at five-over after shooting 73-72-76. He finished ahead of Tomas Gana of Lynn University, who will be competing in the Master's next month.
"Cooper was in position to win the tournament and is very deserving of this honor," said head coachÂ
Matthew Martin. "He's playing at a high level right now and I look for him to break through with a victory very soon."
This weekend, the Eagles will participate in the Pinehurst Intercollegiate at Pinehurst, N.C. The tournament will take place Friday through Sunday.
