Soccer Defeated in Overtime by Ball State 1-0

BOX SCORE | ARCHIVED VIDEO

MOREHEAD, Ky.
— The Morehead State soccer team fell to Ball State 1-0 in overtime on Sunday afternoon at Jayne Stadium. The loss is the Eagles' third consecutive overtime loss

The Cardinals netted the game-winner in the 93rd minute with a header from Jenna Dombrowski that was set up by a free kick 30 yards above the box. Paula Guerrero sent the ball into the middle of the box to assist Dombrowski's goal.

Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Eva Helgadottir continued to rack up the saves for the Eagles as she recorded 12 in the match while facing 22 shots. The 12 saves fall just short of Helgadottir's career-best 13 saves she made in a 2-1 overtime win at UT Martin on October 20, 2016.

Offensively, Morehead State took a season-high 11 shots but was unable to get one past Ball State goalkeeper Tristin Stuteville.  Junior midfielder Morgan Treser took a team-best three shots while senior forward Dani Wilson took two shots that were both on target.

The Eagles are now 1-3 overall and will next travel to Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus, Ohio to square off with Ohio State on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. ET.
