MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State Softball falls in the final game of its home series against OVC foe Tennessee Tech on Monday. The Eagles fell 7-3 as it scored all of its runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Alexis Strother led MSU offensively as she 2-for-4 on the day with two RBI. Unforced mistakes for the Eagles proved fatal as they tied their season-high of four errors in the loss.
Kirya Kingery and
Kelsey Sparks both currently hold multi-game hitting streaks at eight and three straight contests, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tennessee Tech began the scoring with a two-RBI double to left-center in the top of the second.
- A throwing error by Morehead State in the top of the third brought home another for TTU before an RBI single in the fifth pushed the lead to 4-0.
- Morehead State was able to get its offense going in the bottom of the fifth as Kirya Kingery singled to score the first run for the Eagles before Alexis Strother's two-RBI single brought the game to a 4-3 margin.
- The Golden Eagles pushed their lead to three once again in the top of the seventh as another throwing error by MSU scored a run before a two-run home run accounted for the 7-3 final score.
NOTABLE
- Peyton Slater was struck by a pitch for the 19th time in her career and now stands alone for sixth all-time in MSU Softball program history in HBP.
- Freshman Lennon Spicer earned the decision in every game of the series as she threw 6.0 innings while striking out three.
- Kirya Kingery extended her on-base streak to 14 straight games as she went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

MSU returns to action on Wednesday as it hosts Eastern Kentucky for a mid-week doubleheader at University Field. First pitch for game one is set for 1 pm ET with game two scheduled for 3 pm ET.
