Slater Leads Eagles at the Plate as Softball Falls in Both Games of Doubleheader with SIUE

MOREHEAD, Ky. – After being unable to find consistent offense this afternoon, Morehead State softball fell in both halves of its doubleheader with SIUE. The Eagles began the day with an 8-1 loss before dropping game two to the Cougars 5-0.

Peyton Slater was the highlight of the day for the Eagles with a 3-for-5 performance in the two games, including a pair of doubles. The junior has now reached base safely in seven straight contests while flashing several impressive plays with the glove.

- The Cougars took the lead in the top of the fifth off the bat of a three-run home run.
- SIUE put up five more runs in the sixth inning highlighted by a three-run triple as the Cougars would eventually take the 8-1 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
- SIUE got off to a hot start with a pair of singles that brought in three total runs in the first.
- The visitors added another after a runner at third advanced on a throw that saw Peyton Slater catch her ninth runner stealing this season.
