Bommer Posts Career Highs in Volleyball Setback at Tennessee

BOX SCORE

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Pressed into starting duty, Morehead State freshman setter Brenna Bommer posted career highs in assists, kills and digs at No. 23 Tennessee Sunday afternoon. The Eagles could not slow down the Lady Vols, however, falling in straight sets.

UT topped the Eagles 25-17, 25-21, 25-16 at Thompson-Boling Arena as the Eagles slid to 3-5 on the young season.

Bommer handed out 27 assists, had five kills and the same amount of digs.

After being held in check on Friday evening by UT, graduate student Olivia Lohmeier was back in form on the outside for MSU. She had 14 kills.

Defensively, junior libero Allison Whitten topped all players on the court with 17 digs. Tennessee barely won the back row battle, 51-49. Junior defensive specialist Olivia Montelisciani added nine digs.

But, the hosts were tough to handle in their attack as Tennessee hit .382, including better than .400 in sets one and three. UT also recorded nine blocks on Eagle attacks.

Morehead State is back at home this weekend for the Comfort Inn-Vitational. The Eagles host Marshall Thursday, Toledo Friday and No. 4 Pitt Saturday.
