MOREHEAD, Ky. – For the first time in her Eagle career,
Veronica Charles has been tabbed OVC Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Charles opened the week with her first career double-double against Spalding, scoring 16 points to go with 12 rebounds. The senior guard went on to notch her third double figure scoring performance of the season against Presbyterian, where she led the team with 18 points, including connecting on a three pointer with 35 seconds left to lift the Eagles to their second straight victory.
Charles was a force on defensive end as well, collecting 12 steals during the week, including a career-high eight against Spalding, which was the most by a Morehead State player in a game since December 15, 2020. Her 19 steals this season lead the team and is the second most in the conference.
Charles and the Eagles return to Johnson Arena Wednesday for a matchup against Brescia (Ky.) Tip-off is slated for 5:00 PM and can be found on ESPN+ or listened to on the Eagle Sports Radio Network.
