Men's Golf Finishes 1-2 in Carpenter-Chaney Classic

RESULTS

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State men's golf hosted and competed in the second annual Carpenter-Chaney Classic, finishing 1-2 in the match play style event. The Eagles dropped their matchup against Missouri State before pulling out a victory over SIUE, and falling in their final match against Lindenwood.

Logan Liles paced the team throughout the three matches, finishing undefeated at 2-0-1. Liles never trailed in his first matchup and rallied to take down Anthony Ruthey of SIUE by winning three of the final four holes in the second round, propelling the Eagles to their overall match victory.

Sophomore Nolan Piazza also found success at the event, going 2-1 in his matches. In both of his victories, Piazza won the final two holes to wrap up both matches.

The Eagles also received victories from Logan McCormick, who edged out Eric Schuessler of Missouri State in the first round, and Blake Evans, who topped TJ Baker of SIUE in the second round. Nolan Pierce finished 0-1-2 in his first collegiate match play event since 2020.

The Eagles return to stroke play next week at the Mickey Mouse Intercollegiate. The three-day tournament tees off from Disney's Palm Course in Orlando, Fla.
