MOREHEAD, Ky. – Men's golf wrapped up play at Disney's Palm Course by finishing tied for seventh on the strength of standout efforts from
Nolan Piazza and
Cameron Travis.
As a team, the Eagles carded rounds of 290-301-294—885 throughout the three-day event.
Sophomore
Nolan Piazza led the team, marking his third top-5 finish of the season, finishing tied for fourth. Piazza, who fired rounds of 70-73-70-213, had success on par 5 scoring, finishing tied for second in the tournament with a 4.33 scoring average, including an eagle on the par 5 seventh hole in round two.
Cameron Travis notched his first career top-20 performance, finishing tied for 17th. Travis, who carded rounds of 71-75-73—219, was tied for the team lead in birdies throughout the tournament, racking up 10 alongside Piazza, and also carded an eagle in his first round.
Freshman
Logan Liles jumped 13 spots up the leaderboard on the strength of his solid third round, finishing with rounds of 75-78-74—227.
Nolan Pierce rounded out a trio of eagles for Morehead State, with his coming in his final round as part of a 74-80-77—231 performance.
Blake Evans led the team in par 3 scoring with a 3.00 scoring average, while
Logan McCormick, who competed as an individual, saw great success in the back nine of his second round, shooting a team-low two under par.
The Eagles return to action March 6-7 at the Daytona Beach Spring Invitational. The two-day tournament tees off from the LPGA International Club.
