RESULTS (LIBERTY | APSU)
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Beach Volleyball split a pair of close calls on opening day of the 2023 season Saturday at Grand Sands in Loveland, Ohio. The Eagles topped Liberty 3-2 before falling 3-2 to Austin Peay.
Against Liberty, MSU won at Nos. 1, 4 and 5. At the top,
Trinity Miller and
Sydney Wyman rallied to win 21-23, 21-17, 15-8. On court four, the P team of
Peighton Isley and
Peyton Kennedy handled their foes, 21-7, 21-12.
Brenna Bommer and
Andrea Grimes won their match at No. 5, 21-15, 18-21, 15-12. In the extra match,
M.E. Hargan and
Kinsey McAfee prevailed in straight sets.
Against Austin Peay, top duo Miller and Wyman again rallied, winning 11-21, 21-17, 15-11. The Eagles' other point came at No. 3 with Kennedy and
Abby Hulsman, who won 21-17, 14-21, 15-13. Hargan and Grimes led after one set at No. 5 but could not hold on. Â
The Eagles continue play in Ohio on Sunday as they face Liberty again at 9:30 a.m. ET and Eastern Kentucky at 1:30 p.m.Â
