MOREHEAD, Ky. – For the second week in a row,
Veronica Charles has been tabbed OVC Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Monday. This is the fifth honor for Charles and is tied for the most by a Morehead State player since Aliyah Jeune in 2018-19.
Charles once again led the Eagles in scoring last week, extending her double-figure scoring streak to nine games. She opened with a 13 point effort at Eastern Illinois and finished by scoring 18 at home against UT Martin, with 13 of her points coming as part of a big second half comeback attempt by the Eagles.
At the end of the regular season, Charles has now recorded 87 total steals, the second most steals in a single season by any Morehead State player, and she is the only player in the OVC this season to record 100 rebounds, 50 assists, and 50 steals.
Charles and the Eagles travel to Evansville, Ind., Wednesday to take on the fifth seeded UT Martin at 2:00 PM in the OVC Tournament.
