RESULTS (MATCH 1 | MATCH 2)
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Beach Volleyball hosted its home opener for 2023 Monday afternoon on a sunny day at Giovanni's Breadstick Beach. The Eagles fell in two tightly contested battled witHÂ Tusculum (Tenn.) - 3-2 in both matches.
Morehead State slipped to 4-4 on the season. The day also featured a women's history event and giveaways and free items from Aramark, the Office of Human Resources and Giovanni's Pizza.Â
At No. 1,
Sydney Wyman and
Trinity Miller continued their season success as they succeeded in both their matches. The pair won 21-18, 21-9 in the opener and cruised to a 21-7, 21-9 triumph in the second outing.Â
In the first match,
Abby Hulsman improved to 6-1, moving up to No. 2 and pairing with
Anya Reinhard for a come-from-behind 20-22, 21-16, 15-11 victory. Tusculum eventually clinched the match with a straight-set win at No. 3 to move ahead 3-1.Â
In the exhibition match,
Kaylin Livingston and
Andrea Grimes prevailed in three sets.Â
In the second match, the Eagles led 2-1 but could not hold on Nos. 2 and 3 and fell 3-2. Besides the No. 1 pair win, Grimes and
Brenna Bommer took their match at No. 5 in three sets. Grimes is now 5-2 in the five-spot this spring. The extra pair also saw the Eagles win as
M.E. Hargan and
Shea Hefner registered a straight-set winner.Â
The Eagles are on the road this weekend for the first of two OVC weekends. MSU will face Eastern Illinois, UT Martin, Lindenwood and the host Mocs at Chattanooga on Friday and Saturday.
