MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Preseason OVC Pitcher and Player of the Year took home their first OVC weekly honors of the season Monday for the Morehead State baseball team after a dominant 4-0 week. John Bakke (Pitcher of the Week) and Jackson Feltner (Co-Player of the Week) both turned in outstanding performances.

In what has been a fantastic career as an Eagle, John Bakke finally took home OVC Pitcher of the Week honors in his sixth season at Morehead State after an outing that was as efficient as it was dominant. Bakke took the ball for Morehead State in Saturday's OVC opener vs. Southern Indiana, and carved up the Screaming Eagles on his way to his second victory of the year. The 6'4 lefty from Huntsville, Ala., turned in seven shutout innings, allowing just one hit and striking out a season-high eight batters. It is the second time this year Bakke has thrown six or more shutout innings, doing so at Samford on March 3rd as well.

Jackson Feltner notched his second career OVC Player of the Week nod after an efficient week across four games. Feltner posted three multi-hit games, including a career-high-tying four-hit day vs. Southern Indiana in game one of Sunday's doubleheader. The two-time First Team All-OVC first baseman and Preseason OVC Player of the Year launched his seventh home run of the season among his four hits. He drew a walk in all four games for a total of five bases on balls, and saw his average jump 40 points from .343. to .383. Currently, Feltner sits alone in first place in career batting average, with a .390 mark. For his career, Feltner has 34 HR and 116 RBI in 121 games played in a Morehead State uniform. He is the second Eagle this season to take home OVC Player of the Week.

Bakke, Feltner, and the Morehead State baseball team return to action on Tuesday vs. Eastern Kentucky in Richmond, before returning home for a three-game OVC series vs. rival Tennessee Tech at Allen Field.
