MOREHEAD, Ky. -- No. 1 pair
Trinity Miller and
Sydney Wyman won a pair of matches at the top of the lineup as the Morehead State Beach Volleyball team settled for a split at OVC rival Tennessee Tech Sunday. The top pair clinched the opening dual, 3-2, while the Golden Eagles grabbed a 3-0 lead and held on to defeat MSU 3-2 in the finale.
MSU is now 7-7 overall and 3-3 in OVC battles.Â
In the opener, with the match tied 2-2, Miller and Wyman outlasted Aleeya Jones and Bella Powell, 21-15, 22-20, to seal the victory. Other wins came for
Kinsey McAfee and
Bridget Bessler (21-15, 15-21, 15-9) at No. 3 and
Peyton Kennedy and
Irene Wogenstahl (12-21, 21-18, 15-9) at No. 4.Â
In the 6th pair and exhibition match, Shea Heffner and
Peighton Isley claimed a 21-13, 21-13 triumph.
In the day's second match, Wyman and Miller cruised to a 21-17, 21-8 winner.
Abby Hulsman and
Anya Reinhard also won at No. 2, 21-18 and 21-9. Both Kennedy/Wogenstahl and Bessler/McAfee took their matches to three sets but fell.
MSU did score a straight-set win in the extra pair with
Kaylin Livingston and
M.E. Hargan winning 21-17, 21-15.Â
Morehead State stays in Tennessee, traveling to Greeneville for a double dual at Tusculum Monday beginning at Noon ET.
