RESULTS (LIN | CHATT)
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Beach Volleyball wrapped up OVC Weekend No. 2 and the 2023 regular season with two victories at Giovanni's Breadstick Beach Saturday. The Eagles bested Lindenwood 4-1 in the afternoon and then knocked off Chattanooga 3-2 at night.
MSU finished the regular season at 11-11 overall and 6-4 in the conference to claim third place. The Eagles now head to the OVC Tournament at UT Martin where they will first face EIU on Thursday at 4 p.m. ET. All tournament matches will be on ESPN+.
On Saturday, the Eagles first topped Lindenwood with wins at Nos. 2-5. At No. 4,
Irene Wogenstahl and
Andrea Grimes rallied from a set down to win 20-22, 21-9,1 5-7. MSU's No.5 also rallied from behind, winning 16-21, 21-7, 15-12.
Kinsey McAfee and
Bridget Bessler claimed a straight-set triumph on court two, while
Abby Hulsman and
Anya Reinhard knocked off their adversaries from LIN in straight sets too at No. 3. In the 6th pairing and exhibition,
Peighton Isley and
Kaylin Livingston won 21-19, 21-16.
MSU then topped Chattanooga as third pair Hulsman and Reinhard clinched the third point with a 21-18, 21-19 win. At No. 4, Wogenstahl and Grimes also won in straight sets, while
Peyton Kennedy and
Brenna Bommer secured a come-from-behind 18-21, 21-9, 15-10 winner.Â
