Baseball to Face In-State Foe Northern Kentucky in Mid-Week Matchup

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Riding a recent hot streak, the first place Morehead State baseball team heads into another big week beginning on Tuesday, as the Eagles head north to face in-state rival Northern Kentucky in the mid-week game. The Eagles and Norse meet just once this season. 

First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. ET at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex in Highland Heights, Ky. Live stats will be provided.

  • Previous Meeting
    • Morehead State and Northern Kentucky split a home & home series last season. The Eagles won in Highland Heights 4-2, while the Norse won 13-4 at Allen Field. 
PROBABLE STARTER - MOREHEAD STATE NOTABLE
  • Morehead State boasts the top power hitting lineup in the OVC, and is among the Division I leaders in home runs. In 38 games, Morehead State has hit 69 home runs, good for 24th in the nation. The Eagles are 46th in the country in total bases (638), and 36th in slugging percentage (.511). In four games last week, the Eagles hit 15 home runs.  
  • As a team, Morehead State is batting .272 on the season, led by Jackson Feltner's .377 average. Feltner is 48th in the nation in on-base percentage at .500. The junior first baseman has 11 homers and 11 doubles on the season, and smashed the go-ahead homer that gave Morehead State the win over SEMO on Sunday.
  • For the fifth time this season, Morehead State boasts the OVC Player of the Week. Ryley Preece took home his second OVC Weekly Award of the season (and fourth of his career) on Monday after smashing five home runs and two doubles across four games this past week. Preece is the OVC leader in home runs, RBI, slugging, and runs scored. His 17 home runs have him tied for 11th in Division I, and his .811 slugging percentage is 13th in DI. 
  • Roman Kuntz provided a spark from the DH spot for Morehead State vs. SEMO, helping the Eagles take the series over the Redhawks with a pair of two-homer games. On Sunday, he went 2-2 with two solo shots. This season, the New Carlisle, Ind., native has eight homers and 39 RBI. 
  • Isaias Guzman has started to heat up at the plate in April. Guzman has a hit in five straight games, and all four of his home runs have come in this month. He smashed one of seven Eagle home runs on Friday. 
  • Luke Lyman was a force out of the bullpen for Morehead State this weekend, throwing 2.1 scoreless innings vs. SEMO. 
  • Defensively, Morehead State has turned 35 double plays in 38 games -- good for 19th in the nation. 0.92 double plays per game is 20th in DI as well.
