Trinity Spear and a sacrifice fly from
Peyton Jordan to even the score.
SIUE retook the lead in the third with an RBI single, but
Jessie Begley left a pair of runners stranded to keep the game at 2-1.
After
Madeline Gailor reached on an error to open the bottom of the fourth,
Erin Boyle singled and
Taylor Rhea moved them into scoring position for
Madi Ogden, who delivered a two-run single to give the Eagles a 3-2 lead, but a running catch from SIUE left the bases loaded to limit the damage.

A two-run blast from SIUE in the sixth stretched their lead to 7-3, and the Eagles scored off a double steal in the seventh, but couldn't get any closer, falling in the opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2)

Lennon Spicer recovered to retire 12 of the next 13 batters.
The Eagles finally broke through in the fourth, with Jordan and Gailor opening the inning with back-to-back singles, and
Taylor Rhea brought Jordan home with the third single of the inning to cut the lead to 4-1.
Spicer worked out a bases loaded, one out jam in the fifth, and the Eagles again got a pair of base runners on to open their half inning, but a base running error led to a double play to end the threat.
