Trinity Miller and
Sydney Wyman posted a pair of wins in straight sets at the top of the lineup Monday as the Morehead State Beach Volleyball team split a pair of matches on Monday afternoon vs. Tusculum.
With Morehead State leading 2-1 in the first match, Miller and Wyman took down Kassidy Mercado and Morgan Pacione (21-8, 22-20) to seal the victory for the Eagles. Other wins came from
Irene Wogenstahl and
Peyton Kennedy (21-17, 21-19) at No. 3, and
Brenna Bommer and
Andrea Grimes (21-19, 21-17) at No. 4.
In the second match, Miller and Wyman defeated the same pairing in straight sets again (21-13, 21-13), while the other win for Morehead State came from the pairing of
Irene Wogenstahl and
Andrea Grimes (23-21, 21-8) at No. 4, as the Eagles fell in the finale at Pioneer Beach 3-2.
Morehead State took both No. 6 exhibition matches, with
Shea Hefner and
Peighton Isley winning in the first match (21-11, 21-8), and
M.E. Hargan pairing with Hefner to win in the second (21-11, 21-16).
Morehead State moved to 8-8 with the split, and return to action Saturday in Richmond against Eastern Kentucky.
