SCHEDULE
UPDTATE: With Western Illinois recently announcing it will join the Ohio Valley Conference, the Leathernecks have been added to the 2023 schedule. MSU will host WIU on Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. ET.
MOREHEAD Ky. -- With the positive progress made in 2022 under head coach
Chris Fox, Morehead State soccer is looking to build upon those blocks and reap even more rewards in 2023. The schedule, released this week, features opportunities for success in and out of conference, with regional opponents and a total of 11 home matches.
Morehead State finished with its best record since 2015 in 2022. Fox and his staff have put together a schedule and roster suited to increase that win total and give the Eagles every opportunity to compete for an Ohio Valley Conference championship.
The non-conference home matches include a pair of exhibition matches against Eastern Kentucky (Aug. 9) and West Virginia State (Aug. 13).Â
MSU will also host four regular-season non-OVC matches, starting with regional rival Marshall (Aug. 17). Wright State will make the trek from Dayton, Ohio on Aug. 31, and the Eagles will host Louisville's Bellarmine on Sept. 7. The final match before league action is at home versus UNC Asheville on Sept. 14.
Road non-conference battles include Detroit Mercy (Aug. 20), Indiana (Aug. 24), former league foe Austin Peay (Sept. 3) and Northern Kentucky (Sept. 10).
In the OVC, Morehead State is slated to host two of the three top three teams from 2022. That includes Southeast Missouri (Oct. 8) and Tennessee Tech (Oct. 19). The other two home league tilts are UT Martin (Sept. 21), newcomer Western Illinois (Sept. 24) and Lindenwood (Oct. 15).
Road OVC matches are set for Little Rock (Sept. 17), Eastern Illinois (Sept. 28), Southern Indiana (Oct. 1) and last year's tournament title winner SIUE (Oct. 22).
Ticket infomation and other information surrounding home matches will be available later this summer on MSUEagles.com.
