MOREHEAD, Ky. – For the second straight year, Morehead State baseball's John Bakke's exceptional on field performance and work in the classroom have earned him an Academic All-America honor. The College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as CoSIDA, selected Bakke to the third team.

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors. In 2022, CoSIDA rebranded itself as the College Sports Communicators. In 2022, the guidelines were updated to include more representation on the All-District teams. Sports have limitations to the number of athletes that can be nominated and the minimum grade-point average was raised to 3.50.

Bakke finished his final season at Morehead State in both the starting rotation and bullpen, finishing with a 6-3 record and a 5.74 ERA in 64.1 innings. Bakke fanned 60 batters on the year and recorded two saves as well, tying the school record in career saves with 17 while finishing with 215 career strikeouts (7th all-time).

The Huntsville, Ala., native will participate in the MLB Draft League this summer.
