MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Ahead of the 2023 football season, Phil Steele publications has selected four Morehead State Eagles as members of its preseason All-Pioneer League team.
Junior running back
James Louis and junior defensive back
Cooper Krezek were both tabbed first-team, while junior long snapper
Brady McKnight is second-team. Junior offensive lineman
Jaxsen Spears was picked third-team.
Louis, from Hillside, N.J., was one of only two tailbacks on the first-team. He busted out with 780 total rushing yards in 2022 and had three 100+ yard games. Louis was named officially to the Second-Team All-PFL list.
Krezek, a native of Kansas City, Mo., did just about everything positive for the defense and special teams last fall. He led the team with 100 total tackles and blocked three kicks to go along with seven tackles for loss. He was Honorable Mention All-PFL.
McKnight, from Stephens City, Va., is going into his fourth season as the snapper and has been named All-PFL two straight seasons without one errant snap. Â
Spears, from Plainfield, Ind., is a key cog in the success of the offensive line and offense in general. He was an Honorable Mention All-PFL pick in 2022 and a member of the Academic All-PFL Team.
Morehead State's season officially kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 31 when West Virginia State visits Jayne Stadium.
