MOREHEAD, Ky. – Entering day three -20 at the Joe Feaganes Invitational, Morehead State men's golf claimed a third-place finish at the event, the best finish in team history at the Marshall hosted tournament.
Junior
Nolan Piazza led the charge for the Eagles for the second consecutive week, finishing third after firing rounds of 66-69-68—203. Piazza notched two eagles and 15 birdies during the two-day tournament and his first round 66 was the lowest individual round of his collegiate career.
Logan McCormick and
Blake Evans, who tied for 14th, both saw improvement from last season's results. McCormick improved by five strokes, while Evans improved by eight, respectively. The 14th place finish also marks a career-best placement for both McCormick and Evans.
Logan Liles claimed a top-20 finish after carding rounds of 66-69-77—212. The sophomore led the team with 37 pars and his first round 66 was also the lowest individual round of his career.
Brody Webb, who competed as an individual, claimed a top-40 finish, while
Cameron Travis had eight birdies and 33 pars throughout the event.
The Eagles return to stroke play in two weeks at the SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational. The two-day tournament starts Sept. 25-26 in Madison, Ill.
