MOREHEAD, Ky. -- A new conference foe pays a visit to Johnson Arena this weekend, as the Morehead State volleyball team returns home for a pair of matches against the Leathernecks of Western Illinois. The Eagles dropped a pair of matches to SEMO in the opening weekend of conference play, and come into the weekend looking to bounce back.Â
Friday's match is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. ET, with Saturday's match beginning early at 10:00 a.m. ET. Fans can stream the action live on ESPN+ with Dean Hardin on the call. Live stats will be available as well.Â
2023 RECORDS, OVC STANDING

ALL-TIME SERIES & PREVIOUS MEETING
- Morehead State is a perfect 2-0 vs. Western Illinois all-time and 1-0 at home. The first of the two meetings took place in Chicago, Ill., in 1998, with the latter of the two coming in Morehead in 2008. MSU swept the Leathernecks on both occasions.Â
NOTABLE
- Peighton Isley ranks 11th in the nation in digs per set this season at 5.35. Her total of 262 is 20th in Division I. This past weekend, she totaled 18 digs in seven sets, including 26 in a four set loss on Friday night. She accounts for 31% of MSU's 841 total digs -- which ranks T-38th in the country.Â
- Irene Wogenstahl was a nominee for OVC Defensive Player of the Week after hosting a block party at SEMO. The redshirt junior middle blocker totaled 10 blocks, including six solo (five on Friday). She leads the team in blocks this season with 47.0 and hitting percentage at .296. Her 16 block solos leads the OVC.Â
- Maycie Welborn is the team leader in many offensive categories, including points (163.0), points per set (3.33), kills (145), and kills per set (2.96). In kills per set and hitting percentage, she ranks 10th in the OVC.
- Brenna Bommer has put together a stellar 2023 season thus far, ranking second in the conference in assists per set and total assists. Bommer has three double-doubles this season, and nearly set her career-high in assists vs. Eastern Michigan with 54.
- M.E. Hargan leads the Eagles in double-doubles with four. She posted 10 kills in both matches vs. SEMO, and a season-high 15 digs on Friday night.Â
- Shea Hefner is among the OVC leaders in service aces, and leads the team in the category with 21.
- Freshmen have contributed in big ways thus far for the 2023 Eagle volleyball team. Courtney Fitzgerald has posted 10+ digs four times in September, while Sydney Sennett has helped out Bommer as a setter with 87 assists. Amelia Nott has been a key contributor in the blocks department (second on the team), while Hollan Everett ranks third on the team in kills and second in points per set.Â
