RESULTS
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State women's golf had a consistent showing in all three rounds of the Johnie Imes Invitational this week, leading to a fifth place finish.
Hosted by Missouri on the par 72, 6,264-yard Club at Olde Hawthorne grounds, Morehead State fired rounds of 290-292-292 to finish at 874 and +10 for the three-day event. The Eagles scored their first top five finish of the young season among the 13 teams competing.
"This was a very solid tournament and an impressive team effort," said Head Coach
Stephanie Barker. "I'm very proud of this group for their preparation, mindset and resilience. The Club at Old Hawthorne is a fantastic and demanding venue. We navigated the course quite well and competed with class."
Junior
MacKenzie Moore led her team for the second consecutive event, totaling 69-72-74--216 to conclude in a tie for seventh place. Freshman
Isabella Wiley's second-round 67 was the second best individual round of the tournament, and she was 25th with a 79-67-75--221.
Senior
Olivia Hensley had a tough second round, but sandwiched that with solid 72s and finished at 72-78-72--222 and in 27th. Grad student
MacKenzie Neal was 29th and improved each time out with a 77-75-71--223. Sophomore Tuva Marie Isabakke was right behind with a 72-77-75--224 to finish in 34th.
The team ranked second in par 4 scoring and third in par 3 totals. The 41 birdies recorded was third best among all the teams.
The team is right back in action Monday and Tuesday at the Butler Fall Invitational in Indianapolis, Ind.
