MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Sixth-year midfielder
Colleen Swift scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season at Eastern Illinois Thursday, but the host team slipped the equalizer goal in with 26 seconds left as the Eagles tied the Panthers 1-1.
MSU moved to 3-4-5 overall and 2-0-2 in the OVC, picking up its eighth point in the league standings.
Swift, who now has 14 career goals, beat EIU goalkeeper Ella Kratochvil with a shot at 67:58 to give her team the 1-0 lead. Erin Fite was credited with her team-leading third assist, along with an additional assist from
Mary Trudeau - her first collegiate helper.
MSU was bidding for its fourth consecutive shutout, but the Panthers found the back of the net at 89:34 when Ella Onstatt headed in a shot past Eagle goalkeeper
Erin Gibbs.
The Eagles, the OVC leader in shots per match, were held somewhat in check with six as six different players attempted a strike. Gibbs made four saves among the 12 shots taken by EIU.
