MOREHEAD, KY --The Morehead State volleyball team racked up 11 blocks en route to a three-set victory (25-18, 25-17, 25-14) against the Western Illinois Leathernecks Saturday at home at Johnson Arena.
The win moved the Eagles' record to 8-8 overall and 1-3 in OVC action, marking the Eagles first conference win after a three-match slide.
The Eagles were led by a double-double from M.E. Hargan, who registered 13 kills and 12 digs on the day. Maycie Welborn also added 12 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Peighton Isley chipped in for with 17 digs to go with eight blocks from Irene Wogenstahl.

SET 1 | The Eagles won the first point and held the lead the rest of the way to secure the first set 25-18. Morehead State led by nine points at 22-13 before closing out the set, totaling 15 kills in the process. got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked five Western Illinois attacks in the stanza.
SET 2 | Morehead State won set two 25-17 to quickly grab a 2-0 lead. The Eagles never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 10-9 in a set that showcased four lead changes before Morehead State took over the lead. The Eagles racked up 19 kills over the course of the set. Morehead State's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five Western Illinois attacks in the stanza.
SET 3 | Morehead State took set three to finish off the match. The Eagles took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the set to earn a 25-14 victory. Morehead State opened up as much as a 13 point lead at 24-11 before finishing off the set. The Morehead State offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza. Morehead State's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five Western Illinois attacks in the stanza and capitalizing on 10 Western Illinois attacking errors on the way to victory.
