Women's Basketball Looks to Rebound in Saturday Showdown vs. Tennessee State

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Following a tough loss on Thursday, the Morehead State women's basketball team looks to rebound on Saturday afternoon when the Tigers of Tennessee State University come to Johnson Arena. 

Veronica Charles, Katie Novik, and Blessing King were bright spots for Morehead State in Thursday night's loss to Tennessee Tech. Charles and Novik scored a game high 14 points each, while Blessing King finished a rebound shy of a double-double after pouring in 11 points of her own. 

Tip-off from Johnson Arena is set for 1:00 p.m. ET, with live stats available. Fans not in attendance can catch the game live on ESPN+ with Jared Stacy and Dean Hardin calling the action, or tune into the Eagle Sports Network (96.3 WIVY) with Tom Lewis on play-by-play and Wes Holland as the analyst.

  • Katie Novik has been an all-around weapon for head coach Cayla Petree this season. Novik is the team's leading scorer, while leading in both assists and blocks as well. She is second on the team in steals, and third in rebounding. In conference play, Novik is averaging 17.5 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 3.0 AST in two games.
  • Blessing King leads the Eagle squad in rebounding this season, pulling down 8.8 per game. She grabbed three offensive boards on Thursday, bringing her total to 60 on the season -- tied for fourth in Division I. 
  • Veronica Charles ranks second in the OVC in steals thus far this season. She posted another three on Thursday night, giving her 10 in her last three games. The reigning OVC Defensive Player of the Year has a steal in all but one game this season, and multiple steals in nine of 13 total contests.
