Volleyball Sweeps Little Rock

Led by veteran Irene Wogenstahl, the Morehead State volleyball team bounced back with a sweep of Little Rock Saturday afternoon in Johnson Arena.  

Wogenstahl led all players with 16 kills, tying her season high, hitting for a .438 efficiency and added 8 blocks, including two solos. 

Morehead State, now 6-9 overall and 2-2 in the OVC, won a tight first set 26-24, behind Wogenstahl's five kills and two blocks, in a set featuring 11 ties and four lead changes. 

In set two, the Morehead State attack heated up: the Eagles slammed 15 terminations in 34 attacks for a .353 attack percentage, taking the set 25-20. Set three featured 16 ties and eight lead changes, before the Eagles prevailed 29-27. Overall, the Eagle attack tallied 46 kills on 136 attacks for a .235 percentage. Morehead State was stout at the net, with 12-6 advantage in blocks. 

Grad student Brenna Bommer and sophomore Sydney Sennett combined for 40 assists

Little Rock was paced by Bella Cherry with 10 kills. The Trojans, 8-10 overall and 2-2 in conference play, hit 38 of 126 for a .119 efficiency. 

Morehead State returns to action when they travel to UT Martin Friday and Saturday.

Game Notes:

Morehead State was aggressive from the service line, pounding seven service aces. Sophomore Amelia Nott recorded three to lead the Eagles, giving her eight for the weekend and 11 on the season. Bommer added two aces, giving her a team-leading 20 on the season. 

Wogenstahl's eight blocks give her 387 total blocks for her career, ranking fourth in program history in the 25-point rally scoring era. 

Senior libero Peighton Isley led with 19 digs. She has amassed 1,231 digs in her career, which is fourth in program history in the modern era.
