Morehead State Falls Short in 4-1 Loss to Southern Indiana

GAME 1 | Southern Indiana 4, Morehead State 1

EVANSVILLE, IN --The Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles proved to be too much for Morehead State softball on this particular day, as the Eagles lost 4-1 on Saturday.

Freshman Addie Stem (3-8) started and took the loss in the circle for Morehead State (7-9, 1-3). Stem allowed three earned runs on four hits, with one strikeout and four walks.

Senior Kaytlyn Cripps led the way offensively for the Eagles, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame with a home run and an RBI. Cripps became the seventh Eagle to homer this year, the most different players to accomplish the feat since 2019.

Head coach Megan Griffith highlighted Cripps' homer after the game.

"We definitely had some positives," she said. "It was great seeing Kaytlyn get her home run. Addie did well in the circle for us. We just need to clean up the defense and base running."

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Eagles were trailing 3-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Cripps put Morehead State on the board with a two-out solo home run off junior Josie Newman. The Eagles were unable to get any closer, as Southern Indiana added one run to their tally on the way to a 4-1 final.
