GAME 2 | Tennessee Tech 7, Morehead State 2
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State could not carry its game-one success against Tennessee Tech over to the nightcap as the Eagles fell to the Golden Eagles 7-2 on Saturday at the University Field. The Eagles collected nine hits from seven different players, guided by the efforts of junior Samantha Cervantes, who went 2-for-4 with a double, but could not overcome the pitching of former MSU hurler Lennon Spicer or the four errors they committed, in dropping the second contest.
Morehead State did make a late rally, scoring twice in the sixth, the first on a sacrifice fly from senior Kaytlyn Cripps and the second courtesy of an RBI single from freshman Sela Pickford,Â
but it was not enough.
Sophomore Jessie Begley (4-3) started and took the loss in the circle for Morehead State (8-13, 2-6).
In the batter's box, the Eagles were led by Cervantes, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double. Freshman Sela Pickford compiled a standout performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Junior Ilencia Lightbody also chipped in for Morehead State, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double.
