MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State volleyball took one set off of Ohio Valley Conference leader Tennessee tech Saturday, but ultimately could not offset 14 service errors and a 25-kill effort from TTU's Madolyn Isringhausen as the Eagles fell 3-1.
MSU slid back to 5-8 overall and 1-1 in the league race, while the Golden Eagles moved to 13-1 and 2-0. MSU took set two 25-18 after falling by the identical score in the opening frame. TTU won set three 25-13. MSU gave the Golden Eagles a dubious fight in the finale before succumbing 25-23.
Setter
Sydney Sennett paced MSU with her fourth career double-double as she piled on 17 assists and 10 digs. On offense,
M.E. Hargan led the effort with nine kills, while
Sydney Wyman and
Irene Wogenstahl had eight each. Wyman hit a team-best .400 with only two errors on 15 swings.
On the back row,
Peighton Isley chalked up a team-high 18 digs. Hargan nearly had a double-double too with nine digs.
Isringhausen landed her 25 kills on 51 attacks, while TTU's setter Jordan Karlen had 37 assists and 16 digs.
MSU's defense limited the home team to only a .207 attack effort but was limited to just .138 itself. The Eagles also goofed up 14 times on serves, while TTU wasn't much better as it served 11 mistakes.
The Eagles return to action Friday in the first of two matches at home versus Little Rock at 6 p.m. ET.
